Title: Changing How We Talk About Nonprofit Finance In 2026

As this year wraps up, we have been thinking a lot about change. Not only the changes inside the nonprofits we serve, but also how we show up to support you.
For years, most of what you have seen from Imagine New has focused on traditional finance topics. Deadlines. Audits. Budget reminders. Year end to do lists. All of it matters. We take the technical side of nonprofit accounting very seriously.

At the same time, we have almost two decades of experience watching how financial decisions actually play out inside real organizations. We see the conversations behind the reports. The staffing shifts behind the numbers. The operations and culture underneath the budget.
In 2026, we want our content to reflect more of that reality.
You can think of our lens this way:
How financial operations really work inside real organizations, and what leaders can do about it.
Starting in January, most of what we share will sit inside a few key themes.
Leading through change and constraint
How Executive Directors and leadership teams navigate staffing shifts, funding uncertainty, and limits on time or resources while keeping finances steady.
Quietly powerful systems
The “boring on purpose” side. Documentation, handoffs, reporting rhythms, and the simple habits that keep things from slowly falling apart.
Money and relationships
Board, staff, bookkeeper, and leadership dynamics. How people talk, or avoid talking, about money. Where misalignment shows up and what to do about it.
Behind the scenes of serving nonprofits
Lessons from our own business. Places we had to adjust. Things we wish we had done sooner. How those experiences shape the way we serve you now.
We will still talk about topics like budgets, 1099s, and audits. You will just see them inside real situations. For example, a month might focus on resetting financial leadership after a hard year, or on the money conversations that most organizations delay for too long.
Our hope is simple. When you see something from us in your inbox or feed, it will feel less like another reminder and more like a useful read. Something that helps you think differently about the financial side of your leadership, not just keep up with it.
Change is coming for our content in 2026. The goal is to make that change useful for you.
